Vamizi Private Island
Vamizi is a private island with miles and miles of untouched beaches to walk on, amazing dive sites including one of the top 10 dive sites in the world (Neptune’s Arm), world class deep sea fishing as well as culture and wildlife.
Vamizi Island – 12 km long and up to 2km wide – is one of the northernmost of the Mozambican Quirimbas Islands, located just south of the border to Tanzania and 11 degrees south of the equator. Vamizi operates flights from Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) and Pemba (Mozambique, accessed via Johannesburg) on Wednesdays and Saturdays.
Stay in the beautiful 10 room lodge or rent one of Vamizi’s 5 private villas and have your own little piece of paradise all to yourself.
Crusoe invented castaway, but Vamizi Island Lodge defines it, with ten impossibly romantic, palm-thatched, timber kit las strung loosely along one of the world’s most beautiful beaches. Simply grand or grandly simple – this lodge isn’t about the usual five star luxury and all mod cons, it’s about the more rarefied pleasures of exclusive island life. Freshly caught fish, simply but elegantly prepared, chilled wines and cocktails at sunset – a day can be as busy or as relaxing as you choose. Designed with the privacy of honeymooners as well as families in mind, each kitala is its own private domain, complete with its own stretch of beach and an azure blue ocean that stretches to the horizon.
If you would like a more private stay on Vamizi you can rent one of Vamizi’s private villas. With 5 rooms per villa and situated right on one of the islands pristine beaches the villas are ideal for groups of friends or families who want to escape it all.
Often referred to as an ‘Africa island paradise’ Vamizi has everything that one could possibly want for a ‘castaway chic’ holiday. Miles of untouched deserted beaches of powdery white sand, the warmest calm waters just inviting you to do nothing but relax and recharge. With superb diving, blue water fishing, sea kayaking, and snorkelling there are plenty of activities for the active – otherwise there are private picnics, massage therapies and sunrise yoga sessions. Vamizi is located in a marine conservation area monitored by WWF and is exceedingly popular with Green and Hawksbill Turtles who use the island as a nesting site. The three villages situated in the west of the island are an integral part of the island experience, equally pleased to welcome visitors for some cultural exchange.
